Adiantum hispidulum 'Bronze Venus' is a semi-evergreen fern species from the Pteridaceae family. It produces attractive arching fronds up to 40cm tall. It may be deciduous and lose its foliage over the winter if grown outdoors, when grown indoors as a houseplant or in warm climates, it tends to be evergreen and retain the foliage. Fronds have 5-7 parts with black midribs. The fronds can open a rosy-pink colour, deepening to dark green-bronze with age. Commonly known by the names Rough Maidenhair Fern 'Bronze Venus' and Rosy Maidenhair Fern 'Bronze Venus'. It has a slow, creeping and clumping habit and is hardy down to around minus 10 degrees Celsius.
This fern is related to Maidenhair fern and should be treated similarly but is generally easier to care for and will tolerate a wider range of conditions.Â
