Cinnamon trees are small evergreen tropical trees that are native to Sri Lanka and prefer warm, wet climates with temperatures between 70 and 90°F. They have long growth cycles, and it can take 15 to 20 years after planting before you can harvest cinnamon. Even though you may not harvest cinnamon in your home anytime soon, these trees are still beautiful and can work well as a focal tree in your living room!

  • Light
Cinnamon trees need bright, direct light, so place them less than a foot from away from a south-facing or western window. They don't tolerate low light. In the summer, you can bring the plant outside to boost its growth, but you may need to keep it in a sheltered area to avoid scorching the leaves. When transitioning the plant from indoors to outdoors, give the leaves a few days to adjust to the brighter conditions.

  • Water
Water the plant thoroughly, but allow the top inch or a few inches of soil to dry out before watering again. Cinnamon trees don't like wet roots, and the soil can rot if it sits in water for too long.

  • Humidity
These trees prefer to grow in environments with humidity higher than 50%
