Impatiens niamniamensis, commonly known as the Parrot Plant or Congo Cockatoo, is a unique and eye-catching houseplant that hails from the tropical regions of East Africa. This plant is renowned for its distinctive, parrot-like flowers that are typically red and yellow, resembling a bird's beak. (One of our teammates also think the flowers look like little shrimp). The foliage is lush and green, providing a perfect backdrop for the vibrant blooms. Bonus: It's pet safe and non toxic!

Care Instructions:

  • Light: Impatiens niamniamensis thrives in bright, gentle light. Too much hot, direct sunlight can scorch the leaves, so it's best placed near a window with filtered light or in a well-lit room. A little bit of direct sunlight is ok.
  • Water: Keep the soil consistently moistened but not waterlogged. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Ensure the pot has good drainage to prevent water from accumulating at the bottom.
  • Pruning: Regularly pinch back the stems to encourage bushier growth and remove any spent flowers to keep the plant looking its best.

Impatiens niamniamensis is relatively easy to care for, making it a great choice for both novice and experienced plant enthusiasts. Its unique, parrot-like flowers and lush foliage make it a delightful addition to any indoor garden.
