Pinguicula 'Riva' is a cultivar created and registered by Mark Rubnitz. This cultivar is undetermined, but it is likely a cross between (Pinguicula agnata "scented flower" x P. gigantea) x (P. gigantea x P. emarginata). P. 'Riva' has a beautiful white flower with a bright yellow center surrounded by a purple ring. Under bright light the plant turns from pale green to burgundy.
Plants will be ready to take home in mid February. We can also ship pinguiculas bare root.
Pinguicula are wonderful and a great introduction to growing carnivorous plants!
Provide plenty of bright light. A sunny windowsill is great. Under grow lights is fantastic.
Keep pinguiculas in a tray or saucer full of water at all times, about 1 inch deep. If you live in San Francisco or the East Bay you can use tap water. Everywhere else, consider using distilled water.
Fertilizing is not necessary. Pinguicula will catch gnats and get its nutrients that way! If fertilizing is desired, use a very diluted, low nitrogen foliar spray.
