A new plant is on the market! This plant, called Alocasia 'Velvet Elvis,' features striking dark "velvet" green leaves with bright white veins (they will continue to develop as the plants mature) that are incredibly eye-catching. The slight curve to the leaves displays the venetian perfectly. A vigorous grower, 'Velvet Elvis' will easily tolerate heat, humidity and bright light conditions. Tolerance to interior conditions makes it an ideal show-off house plant.
We’ve found ‘Velvet Elvis’ to appreciate a bit more light than its counterpart, ‘Frydek’. Otherwise, their care is just the same — moderately bright light, light monthly fertilizer, and consistent soil moisture to keep them happy.
‘Velvet Elvis’ is a new dwarf cultivar (Plant Patent Applied For) that will mature around 2-2.5’ tall and wide vs 3-4’ for ‘Frydek’.
