Begonia dregei 'Partita' is a very attractive begonia that has an upright growth habit and swollen basal stem (caudex). Because of this caudex and the small leaves and flowers, this plant makes an excellent bonsai subject. To make a bonsai-like plant, expose the stem base so it flares out of the soil. Then thin out some of the other stems and branches to open it up and make it look like an old tree. Plant it high in a bonsai pot. It also makes a gorgeous specimen if allowed to grow naturally.
