Why We Love It
Anthurium ‘Delta Force’ is a striking hybrid distinguished by its triangular, matte-green foliage and elegantly symmetrical growth. The leaves are thick and lightly textured, shaped like broad deltoids with strong venation that catches the light along each edge.
Botanical Notes
Anthurium ‘Delta Force’ is likely a hybrid between Anthurium clarinervium and Anthurium pedatoradiatum—a cross developed to combine the velvet-leaf texture and bold venation of the former with the upright, lobed structure and vigor of the latter.
The result is a plant that bridges two distinct aesthetic lineages within the genus: the deep-veined, heart-leaf crystallinum types and the more architectural, palmate-leaf forms.
This hybrid retains much of A. clarinervium’s substance while growing faster and adapting more readily to indoor conditions. Mature specimens show subtle variation in leaf shape—from triangular to slightly lobed—reflecting the influence of A. pedatoradiatum. Flowers are small and understated, greenish with muted spadices, rarely the main attraction.
Its name, ‘Delta Force’, refers both to its distinctive triangular (“delta-shaped”) leaf form that appears once mature and the plant’s naturally upright, balanced stance.
Cultivation
Light: Bright gentle light; morning or filtered afternoon sun enhances leaf color and shape.
Water: Keep the soil evenly moist but not saturated. Allow the upper inch to dry before re-watering.
Humidity: Prefers 60–80% but remains healthy in ambient Bay Area humidity with steady airflow.
Temperature: Ideal range 65–80 °F. Avoid temperatures below 55 °F.
Soil: A coarse, breathable aroid mix of bark, perlite, and peat or coco coir.
Fertilizer: Feed lightly every 4–6 weeks in the growing season with a balanced liquid fertilizer.
💧 Water note for San Francisco: Tap water from the Hetch Hetchy system is generally safe; switch to filtered water if mineral buildup appears.
