I personally love the dramatic shape of the leaves on this alocasia - it looks like a sleek jungle predator, just ready to pounce!

Give Alocasia longiloba bright, gentle light, avoiding intense direct sun that can bleach or scorch its comparatively delicate leaves. Water when the upper portion of the potting mix begins to dry, then water thoroughly and allow the excess to drain. Do not permit the entire root zone to remain dry for extended periods during active growth. Use a fertile but airy aroid mix that retains moderate moisture without becoming dense or waterlogged. Warm temperatures, moderate to high humidity, and steady air circulation support the best foliage. Average coastal San Francisco household humidity is generally sufficient, while plants in warmer, drier parts of Oakland or San Jose may benefit from a humidifier. Protect the plant from temperatures below approximately 60°F. Growth may slow substantially during the Bay Area winter, and temporary leaf loss does not necessarily indicate that the plant has died, as the underground corm can remain viable. Monitor the leaf undersides for spider mites, particularly in warm, dry indoor conditions. Like all Alocasia, it contains insoluble calcium oxalate crystals and is toxic if chewed, so keep it away from pets and children. Kew taxonomy ASPCA pet-safety information
