Very hard to find! Really "drippy" and cool. It looks as if it’s been dusted with crushed crystals. The leaves shimmer in shifting shades of silver, charcoal, and deep green, with reflective highlights that seem to “drip” across the surface as the light moves.

This is a plant that photographs beautifully, but is even better in person.

Light
Bright gentle light brings out the strongest shimmer and contrast. Too little light can flatten the silver effect, while direct sun may scorch the leaves. Bright filtered light or an east-facing window is ideal.

Water
Allow the top inch of soil to dry between waterings, then water thoroughly. Keep moisture consistent but never let the plant sit in water. Overwatering is the most common issue with begonias.

Water note: In San Francisco—and anywhere using the Hetch Hetchy water system—tap water is generally safe to use. In areas with very hard water, filtered or distilled water is preferred.

Soil
Use a loose, well-draining mix. A quality indoor potting soil amended with perlite, pumice, or fine orchid bark helps maintain airflow around the roots.

Humidity
Moderate humidity (around 40–60%) is ideal. In many coastal homes, ambient humidity is sufficient. Avoid misting leaves, which can lead to spotting or fungal issues.

Temperature
Prefers stable temperatures between 65–80°F. Protect from cold drafts, heaters, and sudden temperature swings.

Feeding
Feed lightly during the growing season with a diluted balanced fertilizer about once a month. Overfeeding can reduce leaf quality and contrast.
