Nerve Plant – Narrow Leaf Form (Pink Veins)
Fittonia albivenis, commonly known as the nerve plant, is a compact tropical groundcover celebrated for its vividly veined foliage. This narrow-leafed pink variety features slender, deep green leaves etched with delicate pink veining—like nature’s stained glass. Its lush, low-growing habit makes it ideal for terrariums, desktops, or tucked-in spots where a splash of color and texture is welcome.
Native to the humid rainforests of Peru, Fittonia thrives in filtered light and high humidity. It’s a gentle communicator—if it droops dramatically, it’s simply asking for water, and it perks back up just as quickly with a drink.
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Can tolerate lower light, but colors may fade. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch leaves.
Water: Keep soil evenly moist but not soggy. Water when the top inch feels dry. Sensitive to drying out but rebounds quickly.
Humidity: Loves high humidity (50%+). Ideal for terrariums, kitchens, or bathrooms. Mist frequently or use a pebble tray if needed.
Temperature: 65–80°F is ideal. Keep away from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.
Soil: Use a rich, well-draining potting mix—peat-based or tropical mixes work well.
Fertilizer: Feed monthly during spring and summer with a diluted houseplant fertilizer.
