GT Foliage Focus Fertilizer

If there is one product that has earned permanent hero status at The Plant Lady SF, it is GT Foliage Focus.

We were the second retail shop in the United States to carry this Australian-made fertilizer, long before it became a cult favorite among American houseplant collectors. It remains one of our most recommended and beloved products because it is exceptionally reliable, easy to use, and formulated specifically for the plants our customers grow.

GT Foliage Focus is a complete, balanced liquid fertilizer designed for tropical foliage plants. Unlike many general-purpose fertilizers, it contains all 12 essential minerals plants need for healthy growth, including calcium and magnesium. Its low-salt, nitrate-based formula contains no urea, sodium, or chlorides, making it especially well suited to sensitive tropicals, rare aroids, Hoyas, ferns, palms, and variegated plants.

Used regularly, Foliage Focus supports vigorous growth, rich color, strong stems and roots, and larger, healthier leaves. Its balanced NPK ratio of 2.2–0.4–2.2 encourages lush foliage without pushing the soft, weak growth that can result from excessively nitrogen-heavy fertilizers.

How to use:

• Potting mix: Add 3 to 5 mL per liter of water.
• Semi-hydro or hydroponics: Add 5 to 7 mL per liter of water.
• Use during regular watering while plants are actively growing.
• Begin at the lower concentration for young plants, sensitive plants, or lower-light conditions.
• Flush the growing medium periodically with plain water to prevent mineral buildup.

If using GT Silica, always mix the silica into plain water first and allow it to rest before adding Foliage Focus.

Foliage Focus provides complete nutrition on its own, but it can also be paired with GT Rootzone for additional root support or GT Silica for stronger, more resilient plant growth.

After years of using and recommending it, this is still the fertilizer we reach for first. It is straightforward, concentrated, and genuinely excellent at what it does.
