Give Homalomena ‘Aurora’ bright, gentle light to maintain its compact growth and luminous color, protecting the leaves from intense afternoon sun. Water when the upper inch or two of its airy, moisture-retentive potting mix has dried; Homalomena prefers consistent moisture and may droop or develop brown edges if allowed to become severely dry, but its roots should never remain waterlogged. Keep it warm, away from cold drafts, and provide moderate humidity, although ordinary San Francisco and coastal Bay Area indoor humidity is generally adequate. Feed lightly during active growth and reduce watering when winter growth slows. Like other aroids, Homalomena contains insoluble calcium oxalate crystals and should be kept away from pets and children who may chew it.
