Monanthes polyphylla is a miniature, mat-forming succulent native to the Canary Islands. Belonging to the Crassulaceae family, it is prized by collectors for its dense, geometric rosettes and compact growth habit. Despite its delicate appearance, it is a resilient plant when grown in well-draining conditions.
Light:
Bright light to partial sun. Protect from harsh, direct afternoon sun in very hot climates.
Water:
Water sparingly. Allow soil to dry between waterings. Avoid prolonged moisture, especially in cool conditions.
Soil:
Excellent drainage is essential. A gritty cactus/succulent mix with added pumice or perlite works well.
Temperature:
Prefers mild temperatures. Protect from frost (generally not hardy below ~0°C / 32°F).
Dormancy:
Often slows growth in the hottest part of summer.

I’m always on the lookout for unusual looking succulents and this little Monanthes is enchanting. I love it! Who knew I would leave the orchid show with so many non-orchids?
