Prismatic Mistletoe Cactus is an epiphytic Brazilian cactus with angular, geometric stems that branch into an intricate cascading specimen. Nearly spineless and adapted to life in trees, it bears little resemblance to a conventional desert cactus. Small white flowers emerge directly from the stems, while mature plants develop the layered, coral-like structure that makes this form especially desirable to collectors.

Give Prismatic Mistletoe Cactus bright, gentle light, such as filtered window light or a small amount of morning sun, protecting it from intense afternoon exposure. Because it is a forest epiphyte rather than a desert cactus, plant it in an airy mix containing fine bark, potting soil, and perlite or pumice, and water when the upper portion has dried rather than leaving the entire root ball dry for prolonged periods. Drainage remains essential, as stagnant moisture can rot the fine roots. Average Bay Area humidity is generally suitable, although moderate humidity and good airflow support healthy new growth. Keep it warm, protect it from frost and cold drafts, and feed lightly during spring and summer. Display it in a hanging basket or elevated planter so its increasingly pendant stems can develop without being crushed or tangled.
