‘Jade Satin Aurea Variegata’ transforms the understated beauty of ‘Jade Satin’ with warm, sectoral aurea variegation. Unlike the familiar silver markings associated with many Scindapsus pictus cultivars, its color ranges from chartreuse marbling to bold golden patches against a rich green background. Its combination of plush leaf texture, variable coloring, and relatively limited availability makes it especially appealing to collectors of unusual variegated aroids.
Give this Scindapsus bright, gentle light to support strong growth and attractive variegation, while avoiding intense direct sun that may scorch its pale sections. Allow the upper portion of the potting mix to dry before watering, then water thoroughly and let the excess drain. An airy aroid mix and a pot with drainage are essential, as the roots are sensitive to remaining wet. Average Bay Area household humidity is generally sufficient, although it appreciates extra humidity in warmer, drier inland homes. Let it trail or provide a plank or moss pole for climbing and progressively larger foliage. Growth may be slower than the all-green form because the variegated areas contain less chlorophyll. Prune back persistently all-green growth if needed to preserve the aurea pattern. Like other Scindapsus, it contains insoluble calcium oxalates and should be kept away from pets and children who may chew it.
