'Tree philodendron' (also often referred to as Hope Philodendron or Philodendron 'Selloum,' 'Split Leaf Philodendron' or even 'Philodendron Lickety Split') is a tropical plant with large, showy leaves that is grown as a houseplant or outside in temperate climates. It can tolerate deep shade but prefers bright, indirect light and lightly moist soil. It does not tolerate salt build up so flush soil regularly or used distilled water for irrigation. It can produce aerial roots that absorb water and nutrients. Mature specimens become absolutely huge, with breathtaking leaves that can reach six feet long.
